When The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra with Adonis Rose,  a 20-piece ensemble of intergenerational voices representing the birthplace of jazz, faces off against the Captain Black Big Band with Orrin Evans, a bold, swinging assemblage of artists from Philadelphia and the mid-Atlantic, expect a high-energy, roof-shaking rumble, as they duke it out to the music of Count Basie, Sun Ra, Stevie Wonder, and more, in one of jazz's most beloved traditions, in The House of Swing.

The concert will celebrate the genius of this iconic singer and will feature New Orleans-based vocalist Mecca Notes, who will perform many of the singer's most famous songs. All selections have been arranged specifically for the ensemble, showcasing the group's signature sound.

Prince's innovative music integrated a wide variety of styles, including funk, rock, R&B, new wave, soul, psychedelia, and pop. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

As a founding member and one time president of the New Orleans CORE chapter, she challenged segregated facilities, fought for economic equity, promoted voter registration and, later in her career, advocated for better healthcare for Black New Orleanians.

Accolades and awards have abounded - performances at The White House, headlining the Asia Pacific Economic Summit for three hundred Presidents, Premiers and Heads of State, receiving the YWCA of North Carolina’s inaugural “Legend Award” for her outstanding artistry and her dedication to education, and so much more.

From Nnenna's turn in What Women Want (featuring her hit "If I Had You") starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt to her own production (as writer/composer, singer/actress, producer) of the theatrical musical play The Clothesline Muse, to her triumphant role in composer Laura Karpman’s undertaking of Langston Hughes’ Ask Your Mama at The Apollo Theater and at The Hollywood Bowl with opera superstar Jessye Norman and the indie phenom band The Roots, she continues to wow audiences at SRO shows - even as she embarks on new avenues.

Blessed with a fitting name for her chosen path – it was Horn’s jazz-loving, piano-playing grandmother who chose “Jazzmeia” – the singer was born in Dallas in 1991, grew up in a tightly knit, church-going family filled with musical talent. Winner of the 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition and the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition, Jazzmeia was signed to Concord Records and released her debut album A Social Call to great critical acclaim.

New Orleans Jazz Orchestra’s Big Beat Gala hosted by Big Freedia

Adonis Rose & The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra Present A Tribute to Allen Toussaint featuring Gabrielle Cavassa

The Grammy award-winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra will celebrate its nineteenth season with the annual Big Beat Gala fundraiser hosted by Big Freedia. The gala is co-chaired by renowned author Walter Isaacson, Laverne Toombs, Executive Director of the New Orleans Black Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Adonis Rose, Artistic Director of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.

Songs: The Music of Allen Toussaint, was the fourth studio recording by the Orchestra and the first under new Artistic Director Adonis Rose. Toussaint, one of New Orleans most well-known composers, wrote the classic tunes Java, It’s Raining, Southern Nights and Working In A Coal Mine which all get fresh large ensemble interpretations. Other tunes associated with Toussaint, but not necessarily written by him, such as the classic Tequila, are also on the playlist. Adonis Rose and the NOJO will deliver a raucous and swinging tribute to a true American music original at the New Orleans Jazz Market for this special occasion.

Petite Fleur tells the beautiful love story between France and the City of New Orleans. Cyrille Aimee, Adonis Rose, and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra come together to create a recording that exemplifies the cultural sophistication and collaboration between artists from different parts of the world sharing similar musical experiences. The album features classic songs "Petite Fleur," "Si Tu Savais," and "What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life," along with original compositions. This recording takes the listener on a musical journey filled with love, history, and inspiration. 

This will be a swinging night of music with Cyrille Aimee and the NOJO for their Album Release concert at the New Orleans Jazz Market October 15, 2021 7:30pm.
