New Orleans – February 6, 2012 – On February 14th, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra will perform Duke Ellington’s “Such Sweet Thunder” at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the New Orleans Mint Performing Arts Center (400 Esplanade Avenue).
For the first time in the history of NOJO, the big band will be under the direction of conductor Leon “Kid Chocolate” Brown. To enhance the romance of the evening, special guests – including WDSU-TV’s Norman Robinson – will read Shakespearean love sonnets between each song.

NOJO presents a week of local Jazz events: a lecture discussing “Artistic Literacy” at the University of New Orleans, auditions for the New Orleans Jazz Institute’s Saturday Music School and a big band performance at House of Blues.
